Exterior Cleaning Advice

How to prepare for a driveway, patio or path cleaning visit

Clear the area, move vehicles and loose items, make sure an outside tap and clear access are available, close doors and windows, and keep children and pets away while the work is going on.

Access and water

Equipment, hoses and a water supply all have to reach the work area, so a clear route from the road to the surface is the most useful thing you can sort out beforehand. Please unlock side gates, move vehicles and bins, and check your outside tap works. If the property has no outside tap, say so when you request your quote.

Furniture, pots and anything loose

Anything left on the paving has to be moved before work starts — garden furniture, planters, barbecues, doormats, hoses, toys and solar lights. If something is genuinely too heavy for you to shift, leave it and mention it.

Doors, windows and planting

Cleaning paving throws up a fine spray, so please close doors and windows overlooking the work area and pull in any washing. Point out cat flaps, low airbricks and delicate or newly planted borders, and mention it if a gully is slow or water tends to pool by a doorway.

Children and pets

The equipment is powerful and the surface stays wet and slippery for a while, so please keep children and pets away for the duration and give the paving time to dry.

What to expect

A clean removes dirt, algae, moss and general weathering. It does not remove permanent staining, colour loss from age or existing physical damage — anything of that kind visible in your photographs is flagged on the written quotation. Our customer information page sets this out in full, and you can request a written quote whenever you are ready.

Common questions

Do I need to be at home?

Not usually, as long as there is clear access to the area and to an outside tap. It is worth being contactable by phone in case something needs a quick decision.

Should I move my car?

Yes, please move vehicles off the area being cleaned and, if possible, leave somewhere nearby for the van.

What if it rains on the day?

Light rain is rarely a problem for the cleaning itself. Heavy rain, high wind or freezing conditions can move a visit, and block-paving re-sanding needs dry paving.
