Rear Patio Cleaned Back to Its Original Colour

When I looked at this rear patio, the slabs had taken on a dull grey appearance. Dirt and organic growth were hiding much of their original colour, making the paving look quite different from the buff and yellow tones underneath. The job was to clean the patio rather than change the colour of the slabs.

I cleaned the paving to remove the build-up from the surface. The difference is clear in the two photographs: the before view shows the grey appearance, while the after view shows the warmer colour of the slabs again. These are photographs of the same patio before and after cleaning, not a replacement surface.

For me, this is a useful example of why a tired-looking patio is worth assessing before assuming the paving itself needs changing. Surface dirt and organic growth can hide the colour and pattern that are already there. Cleaning brings those details back into view, although the result always depends on the material and its condition.

The finished patio has a much brighter appearance, with the individual slabs and their buff and yellow tones easier to see. I have kept the comparison focused on what this job shows: a surface that was dull with build-up, then cleaned back to its original colour. It is not a promise that every patio or every mark will respond in the same way.
